I'm baaaaack! Täällä taas! Nyt on pari kuukautta vierähtänyt Suomessa ja elämä alkaa olla asettunut aloilleen. Ilari on kerinnyt olla jo reilun kuukauden töissä ja elämä Lahessa on taas alkanut. Kuvia ja videioita löytyy nyt koneelta reilu 15 gigaa, että ei muuta kun käymään läpi niitä sitten :) Palataan nyt kuitenkin ajassa taakse päin elo-syyskuun vaihteeseen ja Los Angelesiin :)
Yhdentoista tunnin jälkeen paratiisi oli jäänyt kauas taakse ja Tyynivaltameri ylitetty uudelle mantereelle. Saavuimme Lon Angelesiin sunnuntaina iltapäivällä, mutta hei mehän olimme lähteneet Fidziltä sunnuntai-iltana, joten pääsimme elämään saman sunnuntai uudelleen ;)
Valitettavasti jo heti seuraavana päivänä Ilarille nousi kuumetta ja flunssa pukkasi päälle. Oltiin niin onnekkaita koko vuosi terveyden kannalta eikä tämäkään flunssa meitä masentanut, vähän vaan hidasti.
Asuimme Losissa aivan Hollywood bulevardin ja Sunset bulevardin tuntumassa Airbnb:n kautta otetussa talossa, joka oli aikalailla hostellin tyylinen paikka. Meillä oli oma huone ja muut tilat olivat jaettu. Metro oli aivan vieressä ja suurimmaksi osaksi pääsimme kävellen Hollywoodin ykkösnähtävyyksiin: Walk of Fame, Chinese Theater, Dolby Theater (jossa Oscarit jaetaan), Highland ostoskeskus, El Capitan teatteri ja paljon muuta. Meillä oli kuusi päivää aikaa Losissa, josta suurin osa meni Hollywoodissa pyöriessä. Yhdeksi päiväksi lähdimme Santa Monicaan, joka on ihana rantakaupunki kauniine kävelykatuineen. Oli ihana päästä hengittämään raitista meri-ilma tunkkaisen kaupungin jälkeen.
Otimme kiertoajelun Hollywood Hilsseillä, jossa kaikki julkimot asuvat ja päästiin kurkkimaan heidän kotejaan. Ehdottomasti matkan kohokohta oli nähdä Justin Timberlake vilaukselta kun hän vilkutti meille mustasta Ferraristaan. Näimme myös Justin Bieberin meksikolaisen puutarhurin :D Kävimme ihmettelemässä pientä Hollywood-kylttiä, joka ei todellakaan ollut niin iso kuin elokuvissa annetaan ymmärtää. Ajoimme Rodeo Drivea ja Beverly Hilssin läpi yrittäen bongata lisää julkkiksia luksuskaupoilta, mutta ei tullut nähtyä muita.
Viimeisen kokonaisen päivän vietimme Universal Studioilla, jossa pääsimme seikkailemaan muun muassa Tylypahkassa, Springfieldissä ja Walking Deadin zombiapokalyptisessä maailmassa. Lipun hinta kirpaisi ($105 dollaria per henkilö), mutta ajateltiin, että kerrankos sitä mennään ja Hollywood on se paikka mistä kannattaa maksaa. Niin ja liput kannattaa ostaa netistä etukäteen niin säästää vähäsen, ei tarvitse jonottaa niin kauaa ja pääsee puistoon tuntia aiemmin :)
Parasta antia paikassa oli studiokierros, jossa päästiin katsomaan miten meitä katsojia elokuvissa huiputetaan kaiken maailman erikoistehosteilla. Erikoismaininta myös Waterworldille, jossa näyttelijät tekivät upeita stuntteja aivan silmien edessä, räjähteet ja muut erikoistehosteet saivat kaiken tuntumaan aidolta. Valitettavasti omat videot ei nyt jostain teknisestä syystä latautuneet tänne, mutta esim. tuosta
linkistä pääsee katsomaan. Video on vuodelta 2011, mutta show on silti sama. Paras laite oli ehdottomasti Muumio elokuvista tehty vuoristorata, Harry Potter tuli hyvänä kakkosena.
Los Angelesista otimme koneen "pieneen ja hiljaiseen" San Franciscoon. Miltein 20 miljoonan ihmisen L.A:n jälkeen noin 900 000 Cisco tuntuu oikeasti todella pieneltä. Majoituimme jälleen kerran Airbnb:n kämpässä aivan keskustan tuntumassa Somassa (South of Market), josta on lyhyt matka kaikkialle. San Franciscosta sitten lisää seuraavassa tekstissä :)

I'm baaaaaack! It's been two months since we came back to Finland and things are getting back to normal again. Ilari has been working for over a month already and we're living in Lahti again. I uploaded all the pictures from the trip and it turned out to be over 15 gigabytes, that's a bit of task to start sorting all those out :D But now let's go back in time to late August and Los Angeles :)
It took us 11 hours to cross the Pacific ocean from Fiji to L.A. It was quite a transition from the paradise islands to busy L.A. We left from Fiji on Sunday evening and landed to US on the same afternoon so we got to live that Sunday twice ;) Unfortunately the next day Ilari got fever and flu :( Not the best start for our last weeks of the trip but he survived it and it only slowed us down a little bit.
We stayed in Airbnb apartment, which was actually almost like a hostel this time, right next to Hollywood and Sunset boulevard. We were right next to Hollywood's biggest sights like Walk of Fame, Chinese Theater, Dolby Theater (were they hold the Oscars), Highland shopping center, El Capitan theater and lots more. The metro was also right next to us so we managed well with public transportation. I read from many places that you need a car in L.A. but it totally depends what you're going to do there. We got six days in L.A. from which we used most of the time in Hollywood. One day we took the train to Santa Monica which was a nice change to the city - beautiful beach, boardwalks and fresh ocean air.
We took a tour to the Hollywood Hills to see were the rich and famous live ;) We also saw the Hollywood sign which was really small compared to what they make you believe in the movies. We got to see Justin Timberlake in his black Ferrari and Justin Bieber's Mexican gardener :D We drove the Rodeo drive and Sunset strip in Beverly Hills and tried to spot more celebrities but didn't succeed.
The last day we spent in Universal Studios theme park where we got to visit Springfield, Hogwarts and Walking Dead zombie apocalypse to name a few. The ticket was quite expensive, $105 per person, but we thought that if we ever want to visit a Universal Studio it has to be Hollywood. When you buy the tickets online you save a little bit and you don't have to stay in line so long, plus you get to go the park one hour earlier, I advice to do that :)
I think the best part was the studio tour where you get to see behind the scenes and see how the illusion is created in movies. Waterworld stunt show was amazing with actors, explosions and other special effects. Unfortunately my videos didn't load to blogger for some reason but you see the show from
this link. It's from 2011 but the show is still the same, The best ride was definitely The Mummy and silver medal goes to Harry Potter.
From L.A. we took a plane to "quiet and small" San Francisco. After almost 20 million people in L.A. the 900 000 in Cisco really feels quiet and small. We stayed again in Airbnb apartment which was located in Soma (South of Market), just next to the city center. But more about Cisco in the next text :)
