Viimeiset kaksi viikkoa meni Sydneyssä ihan siivillä! Niin meni myös ne 10 kuukautta, jotka täällä olimme. Varmaan teen vielä jonkun kokoavan postauksen koko reissusta, mutta nyt reissun kaksi viimeistä viikkoa.
Ensimmäisen viikon olimme Maroubrassa Airbnb:n kautta. Sieltä löytyi hyvä halpa kämppä ja ilmainen parkkipaikka meidän Rambolle ennen kuin torstaina auto vaihtoi omistajaa ja meidän oli aika sanoa hyvästit. 20 005 km se vei meitä Australiassa ilman mitään ongelmia sellaisiinkin paikkoihin mihin Rambon kaltaisella autolla ei normaalisti mentäisi. Meillä kävi kyllä auton kanssa niin hyvä tuuri alusta loppuun, että ei olisi voinut mennä paremmin.
Viimeisen viikon vietimme Darlinghurstissa, Hyde Parkin kupeessa, vain 10 minuutin kävelymatkan päässä keskustasta. Nautimme hyvästä ruuasta ja juomista, kävimme vielä viimeisen (ei toivottavasti!) kerran Oopperatalolla ja Darling Harbourissa sekä lempikahvilassamme Queen Victoria Buildingissa. Maisan synttäripäivää juhlistettiin parilla drinkillä vahingossa löydetyssä The Baxter Innissä. Katsoin nopeasti Google Mapsista hyviä arvosteluja saaneita baareja ja The Baxter Inn osui silmään. Kommenttikentässä ihmeteltiin sisäänkäyntiä, jota ei periaatteessa ole vaan se on hämyinen kellarin ovi sisäpihalla ilman mitään kylttejä tai nimiä ovessa, ovimieskin seisoskelee sisäpihalla vähän niin kuin muina miehinä. Baariin mentäessä tuntuu siltä kun olisi tekemässä jotain kiellettyä ja menossa salakapakkaan. Oven takana odottaa kuitenkin lämmin, rento ja hyvin tunnelmallinen baari satoine viskeineen. Voitte arvata kumpi meistä innostui niistä viskeistä ;) Paikalle kannattaa mennä ennen viittä kun paikalliset pääsevät töistä ja rientävät "after workeille". Plussaa myös ilmaisista pretzeleistä, joita saa syödä niin paljon kuin jaksaa :D Samalla sisäpihalla on myös toinen baari, johon menimme ensin, vaikka ihan kiva se olikin niin halusimme löytää The Baxter Innin. Naapurin The Barber Shopin erikoisuus ovat sen ginit, joista löytyy myös suomalainen maailman parhaaksikin valittu Napue.
Maanantaina 1.8. oli aika jättää Australia taakse ja aloittaa puolentoista kuukauden kotimatka. Ensimmäinen kohde on Uusi-Seelanti ja Christchurch, josta nappasimme auton alle, jotta pääsimme heti aloittamaan taas autoelämän. Tällä kertaa "luksusta" on enemmän eli pakettiauto on hitop (mahtuu seisomaan) sekä löytyy mikro, tiskiallas, vedenkeitin, paahdin ja jääkaappi. Auto on saanut jo nimen, joka jatkaa samaa sarjaa edeltäjänsä kanssa ;) Mutta autosta lisää sitten myöhemmin kuvien kera :) Kolme viikkoa tosiaan olemme täällä, jonka jälkeen lennämme Fidzin lämpöön.
Kirjoittelen tätä postausta nyt Dunedinista, johon saavuimme tänään. Kävimme katsomassa maailman jyrkintä asuinkatua ja Cadburyn tehtaanmyymälässä. Huomenna hurautamme Otagon niemimaalle (jos sää sallii) ja jatkamme taas matkaa uusiin seikkailuihin :)

Our last two weeks in Sydney passed so quickly! And so did the ten months that we spent here. I think I'll make a conclusive post of the whole trip but now the last two weeks.
The first week stayed in a nice & cheap Airbnb place in Maroubra where it was easy to park Rambo for his last few days with us. On Thursday the deal was done and after 20 005 kilometres it was time to say goodbye. We were so lucky with the van and everything went so well the whole time we had it.
The last week we stayed in Darlinghurst which is by the Hyde Park, just a 10 minute walk from the CBD. We enjoyed good food and drinks, took our last visits (hopefully not!) to the Opera House and Darling Harbour as well as our favorite cafe in Queen Victoria Building.
Maisa's birthday was celebrated with a few drinks at an accidentally found bar The Baxter Inn. After reading some Google reviews we wanted to find this hidden gem. According to the reviews it's a basement door in a courtyard with no signs and looks like a scene from a horror movie. Sounds fun! It sure feels like you're going into a speakeasy and doing something forbidden but once you open that door a whole different world opens. A warm, beautifully lit and very inviting space with over six hundred whiskeys. We accidentally went to a wrong bar first which is on the same courtyard, The Barber Shop, which is a nice bar as well but it's specializes in gins. You can find the world's best gin (which happens to be Finnish!) called Napue from there.
On Monday 1 August it was time for us to leave Australia and fly to New Zealand to start our one and half month journey back home. We'll be here for three weeks and after that we fly to Fiji. We landed in Christchurch and got our rental campervan straight away. This time we have a bit more "luxury" like a fridge, sink, kettle, toaster and microwave. It's a hitop so you're able to stand inside which makes things so much easier. The van already has a name which follows the previous theme but more about that and pictures later :)
I'm writing the post from Dunedin where we came today. We went to see the steepest street in the world and visited the Cadbury factory outlet. Tomorrow we'll drive to the Otago Peninsula (if the weather allows us..) and then we're off to new adventures :)
